Geingob announces passing of One of Africa’s finest diplomats, Namibia’s first Foreign Minister and former Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Theo-Ben GurirabWith a profound sense of sadness, the President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency, Dr. Hage G. Geingob announced today, 14 July 2018, the passing of “a friend, a comrade and giant of the Namibian struggle for liberation”, Dr. Theo-Ben Gurirab.
Without the country’s First Foreign Minister, and one of the leading architects of Namibia’s diplomacy, a rich chapter is closing, President Geingob said. Moreover, the President said that the exceptional work of Comrade Gurirab in service of the liberation movement, SWAPO and the Namibian people shall be cherished forever.
President Geingob, who visited family earlier today to console and to express condolences, informed that funeral arrangements shall be announced in due course. /End
